MoEngage Anniversary: Five Years of Redefining Mobile Marketing Automation

2014. As the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise made its debut, Germany lifted the FIFA World Cup after 14 years, and Facebook acquired WhatsApp—Raviteja Dodda and Yashwanth Kumar were working to bring their idea—redefining mobile marketing automation—to life.
Inception of MoEngage
Ravi and Yashwant had noticed the challenges around high churn and retention for mobile apps from their conversations with other large internet companies. They also found that most existing platforms were web and email first, and companies were just sending blast campaigns, creating a poor user experience. This inspired them to build MoEngage, towards solving the user engagement and retention challenges faced by today’s consumer internet businesses.
This July, MoEngage turned 5. From an idea, we are now a 200+ strong team. We have spread our wings to over 35 countries. Today, marketers from Ecommerce, Travel, Media, Finance, Banking verticals send billions of messages to 400 Million Monthly Active Users through our Customer Engagement Platform.

“When we started MoEngage, we had a simple goal – to offer a reliable omnichannel customer engagement platform for B2C brands. Over the last five years, we have been incredibly fortunate to have customers (or brands) adopt our platform, which helped us secure Series A and B funding from marquee investors.
On this special milestone, I would like to thank our customers, partners, and the team for the trust placed in us throughout this journey.
I also take extreme pleasure to share that we have been featured in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Marketing Platforms Report 2019. Not only have we been featured for the second time in a row, but we have made the biggest leap in position within the quadrant compared to all the players in this category. In addition, we are very fortunate to have clients who have rated their overall experience with MoEngage very highly in the Magic Quadrant.
We have come a long way in the last five years, and we still have a long way to go. You have our commitment that we will continue to keep our customers at the heart of everything we do and will focus all our efforts to build the Most Trusted Customer Engagement Platform for the Mobile-First World.”
Peek Into the Celebrations
MoEngagers work hard, and we party in style. We had a full-day outing planned for everything business, collaboration and relaxation.
The team kick-started in the five-year celebrations with a nostalgic townhall where Raviteja Dodda (CEO) recounted the stories of how MoEngage came to be and highlighted the milestones achieved in the past five years. He also discussed the future vision, and the breakthroughs MoEngage and the team would want to accomplish.
Later, Jitender Panihar (HR Head) took the stage to talk about MoEngage’s culture and introduced our new core values.
We also took this opportunity to laud the best performing individuals across the company.
Well, the serious business discussion ended with a sumptuous lunch buffet, and everyone was ready for some fun and frolic. The whole team participated and bonded over various team activities and games.
The long day ended with a disco party where we saw everyone showing off their funky side and breaking a cool move (or two).
