Understanding the Difference
MoEngage attributes a Push conversion only when the user completes the conversion goal event within the configured attribution window after receiving or clicking the Push notification. The maximum attribution window for the Push channel in MoEngage is 36 hours. If a user converts after this window, MoEngage does not attribute the conversion to the campaign. GA4 and Shopify use different counting methods — GA4 defaults to a 7-day attribution window, and Shopify records all orders independent of any campaign attribution window. As a result, conversions that fall outside MoEngage’s 36-hour window may still appear in GA4 or Shopify, leading to a difference in reported numbers.What You Can Do
- Review the attribution window configured for your Push campaign under the Conversion Goal settings and ensure it aligns with your users’ typical purchase cycle.
- If your conversion cycle is longer than 36 hours, consider running the campaign as part of a Flow, where the attribution window can be extended up to 10 days.
- Cross-reference the campaign send time and the timestamp of conversions in your data warehouse or Shopify to identify how many conversions fall outside the 36-hour window.
